Every year our friends Julie and Dewey meet up with their friends and travel miles across snow covered tundra to a 10th Mountain Division Hut somewhere in the remote mountains of Colorado. In order to stay in a hut, you have to win a lottery, as they are highly sought after, usually a year in advance. At the last minute, some of their friends couldn’t make the trip and they asked if we would like to do it. With some trepidation, new equipment and 45 pounds of food, clothes, camera equipment and booze on our backs, we climbed to the 11,600 foot destination of Janet’s cabin near Copper Mountain ski resort. What a journey.
By the end of the 3 day excursion we had made some great new friends and hope to go again next year. Thank you to Julie, Dewey, Michelle, Jason, Doug, Taina, Debbie, Theo, Haresh, Darwin, Kim, Jean, Mike and Joanne. We had such a great time.
