Between my work at home and Petra studying hard for her tests, we haven’t had a free Saturday with nothing to do in a long time. I decided we needed to get out of the city and I know that Petra enjoys the outdoors even more than I do (sometimes she has to convince me to leave my laptop and venture outside for my own good).
I rented a car for the day at the last minute and within the hour, we were off to the middle of Illinois to the Starved Rock State Park. Based on some beautiful photos I’d seen of it online, I thought it would make a nice destination. Located about 2 hours outside of Chicago it was just the right distance to feel like we’d gone somewhere different, but could still come home at the end of the night.
We brought both cameras and happily snapped the day away as we explored hiked and enjoyed the warm crisp spring air.
I’m sure this place will be even more beautiful in the summer and fall. Perhaps another lazy Saturday for that trip.
gorgeous shot, love this spot
A prettier Old Man’s Cave. Lovely photography!
that place is beautiful!!!
gonna have to make a trip out there sometime
These are gorgeous!!!!!
Did you enhance the color or were the rocks that green and tan ? The pictures of you two enjoying yourselves made me smile.
Why not sumbit the pics to a contest or the state park for their website and brochures? These will be better than what they have.
What a nice day! Thanks for sending them.
