Our dear friends Dennis and Nikki were supposed to come to Denver and spend a week on a whirlwind tour of some of the better things Colorado has to offer. Carefully balancing outdoorsy adventure with inner city luxury, I was devastated to learn that, 4 hours before they were to board the plane, Dennis had broken his toe so bad that he was in the E.R. with a bone sticking out. Unbelievable! His uncanny ability to thwart my carefully laid plans dates back to my late twenty’s and continues to this day.
Vacation postponed.
Discouraged and depressed about our loss, we decided to brighten our spirits with a last minute trip to The Arapaho National Forest. We invited Kael and Kelly, 2 great friends we’ve made since we moved here, who joined us for some nature loving, smore’s roasting, backcountry hiking and camping.
We did our best to bring our friends Dennis and Nikki along for the ride, though a framed picture of them just wasn’t the same.
Such a beautiful place!!! Did you all sleep in the same tent??
Of course not. The orange tent is our old tent. We were in our new green Kelty Tent.
